Another application will be when you have a take-away / kiosk / coffee shop inside a supermarket.

You can now use 4POSScan or 4POSTouch to ring up the items at the take-away, finalise the sale by saving the sale.

The customer can now continue shopping with his / her take away & when done shopping, present the take away receipt to be rung up with the other items.

..... Clever...

The reverse can also be done :

4POS has a number of users that uses the same feature to receive cash (Small coins) from typically hawkers before their purchase.

The purpose is obviously to alleviate the time consuming task of counting coins at the cashier.

The central cash management kiosk will receive the coins or cash on entering the business. A receipt (Credit) will be issued for the amount that was received.

The customer will then pick all products required & proceed to the cashier. The cashier can then ring up the items & also scan the credit receipt. Eg. Purchases R5,000, credit = R4,000.

Due amount is R1,000

Brilliant!

Remote paypoint in more detail....

The remote paypoint is intended for the following users :

1. A business where the sales persons are not handling / receiving cash. The individual terminals will be used for sales peersons to ring up the products that the cashier wishes to purchase. Once all items has been rung up, the sales person will "save" the sale. The receipt will be a receipt with a barcode of the sale number printed on the footer.
2. The customer can then proceed to the central cashier & present the receipt. The cashier will scan the barcode on the receipt & the sale will be retrieved. The cashier can now finalise the sale or even add other products to the sale prior to finalisation.

The config for ALL till points will be as attached :

This is obviously for 4POSScan & in the configuration for ALL POS pc's. (Ctrl-C)

We will be rolling out the 4POS version with an sql database from Monday the 22nd of January.

A small group of customers has been selected to implement this version.

No more development will be done of the MsAccess versions as this version will be come the new 4POS Standard.

Implications for our users :

1. The main PC (Server) where the database will be run on - will have to be Win7 or better. 32bit or 64bit. XP will NOT be able to be used anymore......
2. Your terminals / additional POS terminals can remain on WinXP except if you are using 4POSTouch & would require the "Offline" mode.
3. Support staff will need to learn how to support the new 4POS MySQL version

Received anotheer interesting question from a customer in Namibia :

The scenario is as follows :

The backoffice or main office is about 300 meters away from a curio shop. The customer wishes to use 4POS for the curio store but due to the distance, a network is not doable. (Network cable maximum distance is 110m) Yes, you can add repeaters etc, but you also have to consider roads etc on the path which will mean lots of issues & costs.

An easy solution is :

1. Set the terminal (Preferably a Laptop) up on the network with a cable in the main office.
2. Configure the terminal fully with sharing etc.
3. test the connections.

Now, on a daily basis, simply unplug the terminal from the network & carry it to the venue. (Curio shop)

Throughout the day, you will be able to do cash sales (Not account sales). At the end of the day, you can carry the laptop back to the main office, plug into the network & then do your cashups & dayend as per normal.

The same can also be done with 4POSTouch. This would be ideal for a wedding venue or even for a golf course that cannot leave equipment on the 9th hole. As you would have seen by now, 4POSTouch can run offline & then connect to the server when back online.

The same process is applied by Buthers producing Wors (Sausage). You can make the wors upfront or allow the ingredients to be updated as you sell it.

Obviously doing the "Make finished Product" is betteer as that will show you ingredient stock & final finished product stock quantities.

For the same reason, you can also use this to take eg. Lamb chops, add marinade & call it something else Eg. BBQ Lamb Chops.

When making the item, Lamb Chops will be updated as well as that special sauce you make...

Use this concept & feature for ALL for specialty items!

Enjoy a great feature!

Bill of Materials can be used to simply update your stock at time of sale OR allow you to pre-make (Manufacture) items in advance.

Eg.

1. At Time of Sale eg. Burgers, Sandwiches, Meals etc : The Items that make up the Bill Of Material will be updated (Deducted) as & when the sale happens.

2. In the 4POSbackOffice program, under Stock Take, you will find the "Make finished Product" option.

This option has been designed for eg. a bakery / supermarket where Bread is baked in the morning & then sold during the day. As you enter the number of loaves baked, the ingredients are taken out of stock & you are left with eg. 400 loaves in stock. Sales are now deducted from the 400 loaves & then ingredients stay static.

We have gone 1 step further. If the baker does not have time to enter the loaves baked in the morning, they can enter it later & then specify that the number of loaves sold for the day must be taken into account.

In other words, say they baked 400 loaves & at the time of entering the number under "Make Finished Product", they have already sold 50 of those loaves, 4POS will only update the ingredients of 350 loaves. This is obvious as the 50 loaves that were sold in the interim, has already updated the ingredient stock quantities....

Received the following questions by email :

Hello support,

Happy new year, hope you are all well.

I have a query that I am kindly asking for a suggestion or solution.

How would one handle a situation where you have meat that is released from a warehouse and then processed into say mince or sausage.(end product).

E.g 100 Kg of meat is released to produce say 140 Kg of Sausage's.

How would the whole process be transacted in 4pos Scan ?

The quantity of mince produced is not standard/fixed so o assume that we may not use BIll of materials.

Your help will be highly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Liwanga.
For and on behalf of jumbo Trading.
