Title: Stock Management
Post by: Join Inn Pub Diner on November 30, 2011, 11:39:38 AM
Hi 4POS Support Team, please assist. we need clarity on the best effective way to book stock in to frontline from our warehouse stock. We have utilised the 'default warehouse'as our Frontline and created a 'store room stock warehouse' for our big stock. The process we followed was to use the wizard (and not stock additions) this however caused some of our beer stock to be way our whilst others ie Whisky, shhoter balanced. please explain how the program of stock works behind the scene. Much appreciated  Marieta

Hi, how many terminals do you have?

Each Terminal is linked to a warehouse. How are you transferring the stock between the warehouses.

Hi Leanne, We have only the one terminal. I have created our frontline stock for the daily pub sales on the default warehouse and have created another storeroom stock for our big stock holding. I do the following process. All new stock gets booked into the "storeroom stock'and we use the transfer wizard to book the stock into the frontline default warehouse for daily sales. However when we purchase new stock I have to make use of the stock amendment function as the stock additions function is not available for the storeroom stock.  What would the correct way of managing our 2 x stock holdings be?  Kind regards Marieta

I think the KISS principle should allways apply! Keep it Simple! You need to link your 4POS terminal to the front stock - Store setup - Setup POS - Server & select Front stock. Now all your sales will be deducted from the Front stock as it should.

Thanks. Would this then imply that we have to manage our storeroom stock manually or does the system provide for an electronic solution? Kind regards Marieta

4POS allows you to do a stock transfer between the warehouses. A document is also printed that you should then sign as proof.

Furthermore, you will be able to do normal stock takes & stock adjustments per warehouse. So EVERYTHING related to your stock will be done on 4POS. Even when you have a discrepency, you should do a stock movement report in detail to see whether all purchases & transfers were done correctly. Quite a number of our customers work on a philosophy of - "You short - you pay!"
