Title: Disabled Stock Quantities & Correcting GP
Post by: leanne on February 13, 2012, 08:54:44 AM
Question 1 --> from On The Go Take Away.

Initially we had created stock items for products on our menu. The incorrect ones were disabled and discontinued .

Also. a stock group was disabled

These items are now not on stock take list options or on stock edit options.

However, they are still  on the stock value list with incorrect values.

What happens is that the system allows you to disabled and discontinue without verifying that the quantity is zero.

How do I get to zerorise these quantities so that they do not affect my stock valuation.

Question 2

A stock item on the take away with bill of material info in place.
The system uses the list cost to show GP’s. The list cost is incorrect.
Question is where did the list cost come from
Do I simply make the list cost = the Actual cost? The value on the price sheet is different and therefore giving us in current GP’s.

How do I fix This?

Answer 1
When disabling a discontinuing items you should try make sure that your stock quantity is on 0 – but it’s not a train  smash, what you need to do is enable the items again, you would enable the items by pressing alt and home on your keyboard, what you can then do is zero rise those stock quantities. After you have made the stock quantity zero will be able to disable and discontinue them again.

Answer 2
The list price has come in from the items cost prices on your 4POS system, if you have the incorrect cost prices in your will have the incorrect GP
The actual price is the average price if you buy a coke for R5 then the next R6, The average price will be R5.50
You will need to sort out your list prices to the correct cost prices, a quick way of doing that would be in stock create edit-> Multi Stock Item Update-> Stock Item Costs
