Title: Microsoft Jet Database
Post by: Jimmy on January 30, 2013, 08:25:48 AM
Sometimes I get a errors on the domain controller with the following messages: Error while Updating Database and Error is: -2147467259 The database has been placed in a state by user 'liquid' on machine "BACKOFFICE" that prevents it from being opened or locked. Microsoft Jet Database Engine.   The other error message is " Error while updating database data en Error is: 91 Object variable or With block variable not set P4Controller.  When I get these error messages, I can't sell airtime, or sell on accounts.  Did I do something wrong, can I fix it.  I already did a database compact and repair.  On average I get these errors about once a week, the rest of the time, everything works perfect.  I also noticed that on the POS itself, about 3 times a minute I get a window that display loading sets, loading keyboard etc.  I don't know if it is normal, but the count on the instruction number and domain controller increases a lot. Normally it only increased when I update the pos, but now it increases by itself everytime I get the loading sets message on the POS. I'm using the latest version 12.11.1029.

Is there perhaps one machine that only runs the backoffice program and is not licensed?

The reason I ask is that if you do a 4POSUpgrade, the unlicensed machine will not receive the new version of 4POSOffice.exe

You will need to copy that program manually to the computer.

If you have a 4POSOffice that is out of date with the rest of the system you could run into trouble as you have described.

Perhaps the 4POSOffice is on a machine not permanently connected to the network, like a laptop that the owner uses occasionally?

Hope this helps.

This is Markus. Happened to take the call yesterday....

You were running version 11.5. We cannot support 4POS that is 2 years old & that is why I suggested you do an upgrade first.

In the older version, we had instances of this where customers had a sale with a quantity or price equal to a barcode number eg. 6009800476262.

The problem in my opinion lies in the database now. You are welcome to look in the c:\4posserver\pricing.mdb database & the table sale to see where the problem is.

Alternatively we can log in with teamviewer to assist at a cost of R450. The reason we charge is that the problem is a user created problem & not the software.
