all stock items loaded as bill of material shows as negative when I check stock. how do I resolve this?

Not quite sure what you mean. Is the item eg Hamburger showing negative or the ingredients?

If it is the hamburger, you need to add the ingredients eg, bun, patty, tomato as a BOM.

If the ingredients are showing negative, you obviously have to enter your purchases (Grv's) of these items.

Ingredients is a normal stock item other than the fact that you may or may not wish to sell it to the customer. Eg. you may sell extra tomatoes or onions or....

So, simply create the items (Tomatoes, Potatoes etc) & then enter the purchases as per normal.
