I have tried to link a new child from exisiting stock to a message but when I ring up the item on 4postouch, I get a message: ''91-Object variable or with block variable not set''.
I then click on OK but the item does not show on the screen as rung up. Only when I ring up another item or click on Finish, does it show/print as an order.
As a result, I have just created a new child to link to the message but this means that there is no stock deducted from stock holding everytime someone uses this message.
Any ideas on how to solve this?
Thanx,
Dawie

Without seeing your database it will be difficult to see what is wrong. Let me just explain the concept again, maybe that will help.
With cooking messages, you need to create the message first & then "Children" underneath the message.
Eg. message : Meat Prep
Children : Rare
Children : Med Rare
Children : Medium Etc.
Your "Child" items can also be a stock item which would result in the system deducting stock from that item. Typically used for Flavours in cold drinks eg. Coke, Fanta etc

Hi,
Thanx for the reply.
I have send a database to Markus.
What I meant was that when I try to connect an ingredient item to a message, it gives me the error code.
Thanx!

If you want to go a step further with your messages...
You can also add a child "message" from an existing stock item. With or without a price.
So if I order a Liqueur coffee and I have a choice of Kahlua or Amarula it can add the price!

From Rhona :
I am having troubles with the messaging part on my orders. We are a coffee shop and do a lot of breakfasts people 'build' themselves. Everything is loaded and set, but for example when I select Omelets on my breakfast section, the fillings will appear on the side but I can only select one. I would like to for example select: Omelets, Cheese, tomato, ham, white bread. But instead I can only select: Omelets, cheese... I can only select one message. How do I apply multiple messages to an order?
Answer :
Messages will follow one another as it has been created. So in order to solve your situation & many others for Pizza shops in terms of toppings, you will do it as follows :
Item : Omelette with 3 toppings selling at eg. R25.95
1. Create item normal
2. Messages - Item will be "Omelette Topping 1"
3. Children on this message item :
Cheese
Mushroom
Bacon
Ham
Tomato
etc...
4. Messages - Item will be "Omelette Topping 2"
5. Children on this message item :
Cheese
Mushroom
Bacon
Ham
Tomato
etc...
6. Messages - Item will be "Omelette Topping 3"
7. Children on this message item :
Cheese
Mushroom
Bacon
Ham
Tomato
etc...
8. Now "Allocate" all three messages to the "Omelette"
Your waiters can now now pick 3 different toppings from the 3 different options.
You will do the same with 4 or 5 or ....
The alternative is to add a screen with "Extras" & all the items as products. BUT!!!!!! This will mean that the waiter & customer can go crazy & cost you $$$$
Nifty!

The same functionality can be used for Pizza Toppings, Sandwich options, Breakfasts etc etc.
Be creative - can be used in all environments for upselling as well - large coke for only $2 more... (You would then have the normal coke as an option with no extra price & the large coke for $2 which will be added to the total...
Use the "New child from Stock item" option so it deducts the correct item from stock as well!
