Stock Value confusion
« on: April 03, 2012, 04:25:37 PM »
Why might I be getting two different values for my current stock holding ?

(i) the first value comes from the "current stock content value by group" report (at cost)

(ii) the second value "closing stock" (as appears on the sales dashboard and income and expenditure summary)

They're about 25% apart. I don't think it's the difference between list and actual costs as these are almost always the same for us.

Thanks

I can't really comment about the figures without the facts BUT :

The "Current Stock" figures are exactly that - current & up to the minute!

The dashboard and all other reports are based on the period selection that was made. Eg Yesterday, last week, the 27th of Feb etc.

We are getting quite a few of these questions all of a sudden.

It simply means our customers are looking at their stock in more depth! Well done!

In all cases customers are confused with the following :

The stock figure showing on the dashboard & comparing that with Stock take - print current stock holding.

The dashboard reflects total stock quantities at cost. This INCLUDES items that have negative quantities! To get the detail of how the figure is calculated - print the Sales Dashboard menu - Stock Value Detail report.

The Stock take - print current stock holding only print positive quantities!

In an example I just had a look at - on a stock holding of R235,000 the customer had R18,000 worth of negative stock, which brought his 4POS Dashboard's stock value down to R217,000!!

Keep up the good work!
